This bit from Newsarama got me a bit excited for next year...

DYNAMITE LAUNCHES HIGHLANDER SERIES IN '06
Confirming what was assumed to be coming with the announcement that it had acquired the Highlander license in September, Dynamite Entertainment has confirmed for Newsarama that it will launch an ongoing Highlander series in 2006. The series will reportedly tell stories set both in the movie and television series continuities, with the opening arc set following the events of the first movie.

Being a huge Highlander fan (especially of the TV series), this is definitely a way for me to get some Highlander fix since the series ended. Although a new film is on the way (Highlander: The Source), this just makes it so much sweeter.

Another MASKARADO sketch by Edgar Tadeo...

Ed's a really nice guy. Everytime I see him (which isn't often), he makes me feel like I've known him for a long time. I really hope I can coax him into doing a short Maskarado story for me. He's a busy guy, so I don't think that'll happen anytime soon.

But I can dream, right? =)

BLOG FILLER #5!

Something inspirational... a new version of the classic "Footprints in the Sand."

FOOTPRINTS... A New Version

Imagine you and the Lord Jesus are walking down the road together. For much of the way, the Lord's footprints go along steadily, consistently, rarely varying the pace. But your footprints are a disorganized stream of zigzags, starts, stops, turnarounds, circles, departures, and returns.

For much of the way, it seems to go like this, but gradually your footprints come more in line with the Lord's, soon paralleling His consistently.

You and Jesus are walking as true friends! This seems perfect, but then an interesting thing happens: Your footprints that once etched the sand next to Jesus' are now walking precisely in His steps. Inside His larger footprints are your smaller ones, you and Jesus are becoming one.

This goes on for many miles, but gradually you notice another change. The footprint inside the large footprints seems to grow larger. Eventually they disappear altogether. There is only one set of footprints they have become one.

This goes on for a long time, but suddenly the second set of footprints is back. This time it seems even worse! Zigzags all over the place. Stops. Starts. Gashes in the sand. A variable mess of prints. You are amazed and shocked.

Your dream ends. Now you pray:
"Lord, I understand the first scene, with zigzags and fits. I was a new Christian; I was just learning. But You walked on through the storm and helped me learn to walk with You."

"That is correct."

"And when the smaller footprints were inside of Yours, I was actually learning to walk in Your steps, following You very closely."

"Very good.. You have understood everything so far."

"When the smaller footprints grew and filled in Yours, I suppose that I was becoming like You in every way."

"Precisely."

"So, Lord, was there a regression or something? The footprints separated, and this time it was worse than at first." There is a pause as the Lord answers, with a smile in His voice. "You didn't know? It was then that we danced!"

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to weep, a time to laugh, A time to mourn, and a time to dance. (Ecclesiastes 3:1,4)

SIGLO launch

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

There you have it. Most of the creators involved in SIGLO: PASSION. I'm glad I finally got to meet the other people who were involved in the book. Had a nice time, hung around the creators' table with Ariel, Marco Dimaano, Jeremy Arambullo and Joel Chua. This is the first time I signed so many books, yep, surpassing even those I signed during the Komikon.

I was especially glad that my Mama came to give her support, she even got herself a copy of the Speculative Fiction book that they launched at the same time. After the launch, I treated her to dinner at Le Ching (yeah, I know, kinda cheap, but I didn't have money on me then). Thanks Ma!

For a who's who on the pic above, head on over to Dean's blog.

MASKARADO #31

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I've made today's strip just a little bit smaller, so as to minimize overlapping with the side thingies on my blog. Is the strip still readable? Anyway, here are the other guys in the Thursday Comic Webring...

BACK TO THE FUTURE...

Last night, I dreamt that I was vacationing in the province with my family (Ma, Pa, sisters & brother). We stayed in one big room in my Lola's house like we usually do. It was around bedtime, and I noticed that there was something different about my younger sister Babu's appearance. I shrugged it off and went tos leep (which is kinda weird, falling asleep in a dream).

When I awoke the next morning (still in the dream) I went to the kitchen to drink some water. Just then my younger brother Andoy went to the kitchen, too. I was alarmed when i saw him, because he was shorter than me, and looked like how he was about 15 years ago. In short, he was a kid again (he's 24 now).

I started to panic... and realized that everyone was younger, including myself. They were trying to calm me down, and I was telling them that somehow I got sent back in time into my younger self. of course nobody was believing a word i was saying, when I felt a tiny weight on one of my fingers. It was my wedding ring! Somehow, I still had it! I showed it to them, insisting it was proof that what I was saying was true.

I was beginning to dread my situation. Do I have to live my life all over again? What if something in this timeline gets screwed up and I never get to meet Kuki? Or even if we do meet, we might not get married. It was suddenly hitting me that my life as I know it might change, and I was on the verge of losing the love of my life...

Then it hit me some more. if I don't meet Kuki, then there wouldn't be any... Jade...

I woke up with a start.

The first thing I saw in the dark was Jade, sleeping soundly in her bed.

I reached beside me, and Kuki was there, also sound asleep.

I went back to sleep, a faint smile on my lips, knowing that everything was going to be alright.
